Two Months In

I’m ninety-three point three percent of the man I used to be. Though, since I purposefully gained five pounds in the weeks immediately prior to leaving Canada (obviously, I’d anticipated some drastic travelling weight-loss), maybe I’m really ninety-six percent of the man I used to be.

(For those that like algebra puzzles, I’ve given you enough information to work out what my weight was when I started my trip, what my weight is now, and how much weight I’ve lost in the last two months. I’m looking at you, Rob.)

I’ve been doing this vagabond thing for a hair under nine weeks now. To be fair to myself – and to head off any alarmed messages from concerned relatives – I haven’t been wasting again to nothing this whole time. I dropped all of that weight within the first five weeks. After that, I think I reached equilibrium – this new weight seems to be the one supported by the amount I’m eating these days. I’ve lost about an inch-and-a-half off my waist. My pants are hanging on through the grace of my hip-bones, or through judicious use of belts. I’m seeing ribs I don’t think I’ve ever seen before.

Here are some two-month stats for those geeks that like numbers (well, me):
