The Blue Mountains in Australia are a UNESCO-designated Natural World Heritage Site; easily accessible from Sydney, with the foothills bordering onto the eastern end of the city's metropolitan area. The region is criss-crossed with rivers, karst mountains, valleys and populations of endemic taxa; including numerous species of eucalypta and troops of Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
